in Afghanistan for insubordination

President Barack Obama has relieved Gen. Stanley McChrystal of his command over all U.S. military
forces in Afghanistan. Gen. David Petraeus will replace McChrystal as top Afghan commander.

> EARTHQUAKE SHAKES COVINGTON
Did you feel the
earthquake this afternoon?

A strong earthquake measuring 5.5 rocked Ottawa and Montreal in eastern Canada Wednesday afternoon, the United States Geological Survey reported. Tremors could be felt in Covington. At 1:47 pm, a Facebook user in Covington noticed the tremor and made note of it online.

Covington buys Fifth Street building; liquor
license going to Carnegie

The city of Covington bought the Bottoms Up bar on Fifth Street and hopes to turn both the property and liquor license into something positive for the city.

Northern Kentucky's May home sales jumped 29 percent, to 528 from 409, the Northern Kentucky Association of Realtors said.

All residents in the City of Covington are required to have their dogs licensed annually. The licenses are due July 1st.


NKU plans to restore Banklick Creek,
create wetlands in Latonia

Staff from Northern Kentucky University has restored streams and wetlands all over
Northern Kentucky and now hope to work on 30 acres along Banklick Creek in Latonia.
