> ANOTHER CHURCH FIRE
Bell tower, choir loft damaged in
fire at St. Benedict Church

Firefighters had to drag hoses into the bell tower to reach the fire, which was reported to Covington's dispatch center about 1:30 a.m, Monday.



The Remke grocery chain got its start in Covington,
also had a warehouse on Russell Street for a while

Remke Market got it start
on Holman Street in 1897

The first location of the store was at 11th and Holman Streets. A move placed the grocery at the northeast corner of 17th and Holman Streets by 1907. But, alas, after closing its warehouse on Russell Street at Eighth Street, the company is no longer in Covington.

Fireworks blamed for blaze in
bell tower at St. Benedict's Church

Fireworks are the preliminary cause of the early morning fire Monday that damaged the bell tower and choir loft of St. Benedict's Church, authorities say.

Band shell at Devou Park
getting a makeover

The city of Covington and the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra are planning a $2 million renovation to the band shell in Devou Park that will also become the symphony's headquarters.
